For fashion brands launching or scaling a women’s wear line, the manufacturer you choose shapes everything — sampling speed, quality, cost and how quickly you can react to trends.

1. Check what they actually make

Not every factory is right for every product. A manufacturer that specialises in women’s woven dresses, tops and sets will understand garment construction, fabric behaviour and fit far better than a generalist. Ask for their style library and recent production photos.

2. Sampling speed matters

Fast-fashion calendars move in weeks, not months. A factory that can return a sample in 7–9 days lets you lock in styles while they’re still trending. If sampling takes 3–4 weeks, you’ll constantly be chasing the season.

3. Minimum order quantities (MOQ)

Emerging brands rarely need 1,000 pieces per style. Look for a partner with a low MOQ — around 100–150 pcs per style — so you can test new designs without over-committing stock.

4. Quality control and compliance

Agree the inspection checkpoints, inspection level, measurement tolerances, acceptance criteria and reporting with the supplier for your order. Confirm whether final inspection uses an agreed sampling plan or checks every garment; neither scope should be assumed from a website claim. Separately, request the audit evidence and corrective-action status for the named production site and check these against your buyer’s onboarding requirements. A social audit does not replace product testing or guarantee retailer acceptance.

5. Communication

Time-zone friendly communication is a quiet superpower. A supplier who answers on WhatsApp within hours and speaks clear English will save you more time than one with a slightly lower price.
