Small-batch planning

Low-MOQ Women’s Wear Manufacturing in China

A smaller first order can help a brand test a focused range, but low MOQ is not the same as unlimited colour, fabric or trim combinations. Use this guide to build a realistic small-batch OEM/ODM brief with NEWCOM.

Understand what the minimum applies to

NEWCOM’s published starting reference is 100–150 pcs per style. Your actual minimum is confirmed in the quotation after the fabric, colour, sizes, trims and construction are reviewed; it is not a guarantee that every combination can start at that quantity.

Style quantity vs material minimum

A garment minimum and a fabric or trim supplier’s minimum may differ. Ask whether your chosen fabric, print, embroidery or custom label adds a separate minimum or development cost.

Colour and size breakdown

Show the planned units for every colour and size. Do not assume the total can be split into any ratio; request confirmation of each colour minimum and the agreed size range.

Keep the first collection focused

Shortlist a small number of coherent styles before adding many variants. Reusing approved fabrics or trims may simplify development, but availability and cost savings must be confirmed for the actual options.

Quotation checklist

A small-order brief that can be quoted

Send the style codes or drawings, fabric preference, colour count, quantity per size and the target cost range. Identify which details are essential and which can be adapted. Ask the quote to separate sample development, custom artwork/labels, garment production and packing, including what may change if the material selection changes.

Sampling and reorders are separate decisions

Approve the sample and production specification before ordering bulk. Record the fabric/trim references and construction details for possible repeats, but confirm stock availability, new minimums, prices and delivery dates at reorder time. Low MOQ can reduce the initial quantity commitment; it does not remove sampling costs or guarantee future stock.

Review the sampling and production approval process, factory information and available audit document, and the buyer enquiry kit before sending your brief.

Reference silhouettes to discuss

These clean product images help communicate shape and detail. They are development references, not verified customer case studies or a ready-stock offer. Materials, availability and the production specification require confirmation.

Buyer questions

What is the minimum order quantity?

Our published starting reference is 100–150 pcs per style. Actual style, colour, fabric and trim minimums are reviewed against the confirmed brief and stated in the quotation.

Can I mix several colours and sizes?

Send the proposed quantity breakdown. Feasibility, minimums per colour and the size ratio must be confirmed; there is no unlimited mixing promise.

Is the lowest unit price always the best small-order option?

Not necessarily. Compare the complete cost and scope, including sampling, material minimums, trims, packing and freight. A lower unit price may exclude items another quotation includes.
